Michael MacKinnon, MBA, CFA®

Michael MacKinnon, MBA, CFA®, is Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager at Altman Advisors. His responsibilities include monitoring holdings, conducting research, and generating investment strategies and returns, as well as advising clients and the firm on portfolio news, market conditions, economic events, and investment opportunities. He is a member of the decision-making team in the Asset Management Group.

Mike studied investment theory at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, where he earned an MBA in Finance, Marketing, and Organizational Behavior after receiving a Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration in Accounting at Notre Dame. After a stint working as an auditor for Arthur Anderson, he became an Equity Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager at PPM America, where he was responsible for investment and allocation de­cisions for the firm’s public equity strategies on behalf of investors globally.

Mike has been married for 26 years and has four children, whom he supports with great passion in their various budding academic, artistic, and athletic endeavors. He loves nothing more than cheering for his children on stage and on the baseball field. When not working or cheering for his kids, he can often be found working alongside his wife at their favorite charity, the Hephzibah Children’s Association in Oak Park, Illinois.
